Being Mary Jane

Being Mary Jane will always relate to me.
I remember when this show first aired I couldn't believe how much I could relate to her life style and her problems.
I remember during my first semester in college being so depressed and down that when I watched Being Mary Jane I begun to write little inspirational quotes on a sticky and stuck them around my room, in my books and even in my phone.

I remember looking in the mirror one day after class with tears rolling down my face and reminding myself that though they might think of you as an ugly black girl it's what you think of yourself and you are a beautiful strong black woman!
This show has had such an impact over my life that my dreams and goals have even expanded to a point where you can't even imagine.

Mary Jane Paul, although just a show, lost love, found love, lost friends found friends; she was screwed up arrogant an advocate and some even said crazy for wanting things a certain way and accepting nothing less?

One of my favorite quotes was "We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them" but what she never did and with her success I found to be so powerful, she never adjusted her life or cultivated her life to accommodate any one or to keep any one because they never did the same for her; and with her beautiful flaws and her over extended hands she gave to her family even after they constantly talked about her and her life style, when they added on to what she was going through she never cried because she knew that with her success it's nothing if you can't share it with the ones you love.

From SNS news anchor to Prime Time and no one to call her own to go home to. Sleeping lonely in her bed yet keeping her posture saying "I'm Ok". Mary Jane Paul, this woman is my inspiration she's my reason for wanting more and wanting better.

This is the reason for my Instagram name this is the reason for realizing that I may not be perfect but that doesn't mean I have to settle for anything less than I want or deserve. "He who looks outside dreams, he who looks inside awakes"
